The File Checksum Utility is an executable JAR file (Java program) that launches a GUI interface.

To invoke and launch the program:

Simply double-click the KillerApp.jar file on your hard drive. The program will launch.

To use the program:

Select the file name you would like to check, then click the "Calculate" button to generate the checksum (using the desired algorithm). The file's checksum and file size will then be displayed.

To create a Windows shortcut:

1. Download and install the latest Java for Windows from Oracle.

2. Download KillerApp.jar from willyware.com (e.g. to C:\Program Files\WillyWare).

3. Right-click on the Windows desktop

4. Select New then Shortcut

5. Browse to the location of the item: e.g. "C:\Program Files\WillyWare\KillerApp.jar"

6. Type a name for this shortcut: File Checksum Utility

7. Click Finish

8. Right-click on the new File Checksum Utility shortcut icon (on your desktop)

9. Click Properties

10. Click the Shortcut tab

11. Set Target to:
"C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_04\bin\javaw.exe" -jar .\KillerApp.jar

12. Set Start in to:
"C:\Program Files\WillyWare\"

13. Launch by double-clicking the File Checksum Utility shortcut icon (on your desktop).
